Highland High teammates Crewe Resendez, Lucas Witcher and Timothy Willford all placed in the top 20 at the Division 1 boys final to help the Hawks secure back-to-back team titles by an 89-100 margin against Hamilton High at the Arizona Interscholastic Association state championship meet at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix. Resendez earned eighth by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 16:12.5, Witcher took 10th in 16:17.2 and Willford clocked 16:32.6 to grab 18th place for Highland, which overcame a projected 13-point deficit at the 2-mile mark to repeat as champions.
