Bryce Barkdull, a Kansas-bound senior at Andover Central High in Kansas representing Shocker Track Club, cleared 17 feet (5.18m) to take third in the boys pole vault at the New Mexico Lobo High School Classic presented by Garmin at Albuquerque Convention Center. Barkdull is still the national prep leader at 17-6.50 (5.35m). The competition was the first since the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit in 2018 in Reno, Nev., that produced three prep athletes with 17-foot clearances.
