Avery Miller, a junior at Allegany High in Maryland who competes for Bullseye Running, won the girls heptathlon title with 5,057 points at New Balance Nationals Outdoor at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Miller overcame a 266-point deficit following the first day and relied on a wind-aided 18.9.25 (5.72m) long jump, a 120-2 (36.62m) performance in the javelin throw and a lifetime-best 2:16.17 in the 800 meters to capture the championship.
