Hobbs Kessler, an adidas professional athlete representing Very Nice Track Club, secured second place in the men's 800-meter final in a lifetime-best 1:43.64 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field in Oregon. Kessler became the first American male athlete since Rick Wohlhuter in 1976 to qualify for the Olympics in both the 800 and 1,500 in the same year. Dave Wottle also achieved the feat for the U.S. in 1972.
