Chloe Scrimgeour, a five-time All-American at Georgetown who also competed in the 5,000 meters at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field in Oregon, joins DyeStat editor Erik Boal to discuss her Name, Image and Likeness deal with Brooks Running, as well as reflecting on finishing in the top eight in four different NCAA Division 1 championship races across outdoor track, indoor track and cross country during her junior year. Scrimgeour, 20, shares the details of communicating with Brooks Running before the Division 1 outdoor championship meet in Oregon and then having the opportunity to attend the Brooks PR Invitational event June 12 in Washington, which was a full circle moment for her after racing in the 2-mile competition in 2021 as a senior at Conard High in Connecticut. She explains how several significant moments during her running career have come while wearing Brooks shoes and how proud Scrimgeour is to be an ambassador representing the brand during her final year at Georgetown. Scrimgeour revisits the physical, mental and emotional challenges of competing in the opening round of the 5,000 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials after a demanding collegiate schedule that included her advancing to all three NCAA championship meets for the first time in her career. She analyzes how valuable the experiences were to compete in five Division 1 championship races, in addition to being in a field with several elite professional athletes at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, and how Scrimgeour will be able to apply the lessons learned during the 2024-25 school year at Georgetown. Scrimgeour also reflects on the impact and leadership of several of the Georgetown veterans who graduated in the spring, especially Maggie Donahue, and how she hopes to be a mentor to not only the younger members of the team, but also the impact transfers who will be joining the program to compete in the fall. She also highlights the development and improvement of Melissa Riggins, and how grateful Scrimgeour was to be able to have her as a teammate and training partner throughout the year, as well as her excitement for Chloe Gonzalez returning to compete in her last year of eligibility and how her presence will bolster Georgetown's depth in pursuit of a team podium finish at the Division 1 cross country final in November. Scrimgeour also expresses gratitude for Georgetown distance coaches Mitchell Baker and Devin Clark, as well as past mentor Kyle Levermore, now at Missouri, and she shares her ambitions and aspirations to become an NCAA title contender in her final year.
