Texas Tech senior Ruth Usoro won the women's triple jump title with a sixth-round leap of 46-10 (14.27m) and won over Texas A&M senior Deborah Acquah based on a better second jump of 46-46-7.50 (14.21m) at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Usoro earned the tiebreaker to secure the championship, since Acquah's second-best effort was 45-4.25 (13.82m). It marked the first time at the Division 1 indoor championship meet that three female athletes all surpassed the 14-meter barrier, with Florida State freshman Ruta Lasmane placing third at 46-5.25 (14.15m). Usoro, the second-best combination horizontal jumper in collegiate women's indoor history, also placed fifth Friday in the long jump with a leap of 21-8.75 (6.62m). The Nigerian standout is the first Texas Tech female athlete to win the national triple jump title.
