Saturday - Jamaicans too strong for T.C. Williams despite great effort

Friday - Hunter runs 4:00.73 to produce epic DMR finish!

 

Saturday

- Florida high school student Kaylin Whitney ran on the U.S. women’s 4x200 relay that beat Jamaica 1:31.17 to 1:31.34.

- The Lyles brothers powered T.C. Williams VA to third place in the championship 4x100 relay with a very fast 40.56 seconds. Jamaican team Kingston College tied the meet record with 39.63 and Calabar of Jamaica was second with 39.89. Archbishop Carroll DC was fifth in 40.94 seconds.

- Later, in the 4x400 relay T.C. Williams ran 3:13.09 for third again. This time, Noah Lyles split 45.6 and Josephus Lyles anchored in 46.19 but their two teammates ran 50-point legs.

- Green Hope NC placed third in the boys 4x800 relay -- again behind a pair of Jamaican schools -- with 7:41.01. Jayquan Williams brought it home in 1:52.84.

- Rayvon Grey of Beacon NY, the indoor national champion in the long jump, won a head-to-head matchup with Grassfield VA’s Grant Holloway. Grey jumped 25-2.50 and Holloway went 24-9.50.

- The Cheltenham PA girls won the Tri-State 4x100 relay with 46.36 seconds.

- Jaelen Williams of Phoebus VA was the fastest U.S. runner in the boys 400 hurdles, with third overall in 53.14 seconds.

 

Friday

- Drew Hunter made up nine seconds on the final leg of the championship DMR, running 4:00.73 for 1,600 meters and brought Loudoun Valley to an incredibly close victory over La Salle Academy RI, 10:00.003 to 10:00.004.

- Sydney McLaughlin split 52.12 but Union Catholic NJ could do no better than third against the powerful Jamaicans in the girls 4x400 relay championship. Edwin Allen got the win in 3:40.88, St Elizabeth Tech was second with 3:41.17 and UC was third with 3:42.59, which is US#3.

- Shenendehowa NY won the girls championship 4x800 relay in 9:00.79, edging out New York rival Mamaroneck, which was second 9:01.69. North Penn PA (9:02.06) and Western Branch (9:03.53) also ran strong as the race produced US#1-4. Hannah Reale anchored in 2:10.17 for Shen. Katie Devore anchored with 2:09.85 for Mamaroneck.

- Gilman School of Maryland ran 7:53.22 in the boys small schools 4x800 relay, finishing second to St. Jago (Jamaica). 

- Green Hope NC won the large schools boys 4x800 relay with a time of 7:47.88. Jayquan Williams brought it home in 1:54.73.

- Edwin Allen ran 45.73 and led a 1-2 Jamaica finish in the girls 4x200 championship. Nansemond River VA was third with a time of 46.26.

- Eric van del Els of McMahon CT won the boys 3,000 meters in 8:20.11. Second went to Gabriel Altopp of Ridgefield CT in 8:21.74.

- Josh Hoey of Downingtown West PA won the boys mile with 4:11.90.

 

Thursday

- With Kate Murphy running 4:37.65 on the anchor, the Lake Braddock VA girls ran the fastest distance medley relay in four years and clocked 11:36.52 to win a Championship of America title. It also broke the all-time Virginia state best by two seconds.

- Weini Kelati of Heritage VA ran US#1 9:19.91 to win the girls 3,000 meters.

- Samantha Watson of Rush-Henrietta NY won the girls mile in 4:49.56.

- Anna Cockrell of Providence Day NC won the high school girls 400-meter hurdles in 57.38, US#1 this season. 

- Shenendehowa NY won the large school girls 4x800 relay with US#2 9:11.03. Hannah Reale anchored in 2:11.51.

- Penn Wood PA's girls won the small school 4x800 relay with 9:12.07. 

- Bullis MD ran 3:46.31 for the fastest U.S. time in the girls 4x400 relay.

- With Sydney McLaughlin running 55.80 on the anchor leg, Union Catholic NJ ran 3:46.85 in the 4x400 relay.

- The St. John's College DC girls ran 3:48.98 for a new all-time best in the 4x400 relay for the District of Columbia.

- Elena Bruckner from Valley Christian CA threw 178-7 to break the Penn Relays record in the discus, but it still wasn't enough distance to win the meet. Jamaican Shanice Love threw 179-6 for the win as both throwers were more than 20 feet beyond the rest of the field.

- In a showdown between New Jersey shot put giants, Alyssa Wilson of Monsignor Donovan got the win with 51-6.50. Nickolette Dunbar from Whippany Park was second with 51-2.75. Jessica Molina of Westwood NJ was third with 48-0.

- Katie Jones from South Williamsport PA won the pole vault by clearing 13-0.25.

- Veronika Karpenko from State College PA won the triple jump with 39-5.25.

- Erika Voyzey of Tyrone Area PA won the high jump with a clearance at 5-7.25.

- Maura Fiamoncini of Mount Carmel PA won the javelin competition with throw of 150-11.

- Tissanna Hickling from Jamaica's St. Jago HS won the long jump with 19-2.75.
