Jordan Hasay Named USATF Athlete of the WeekPublished by
Hasay Earns Second USATF Athlete of the Week Honor for Marathon Debut in BostonBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Jordan Hasay was named USATF Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for her 2:23:00 Boston Marathon debut last week. It was the fastest debut for an American woman and she is now the fourth fastest marathoner in American history. Hasay ran the with the leaders through the early stages of the race, before the pack split apart with a strong move by race winner, Edna Kiplagat of Kenya (2:21:52). Hasay finished third behind Rose Chelimo of Bahrain (2:22:51). Hasay dedicated her performance to her mother, Teresa, who passed away unexpectedly last November. This is Hasay's second USATF Athlete of the Week award this year. She won in January after her impressive half marathon debut at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Hasay finished second to Virgin Money London Marathon winner Mary Keitany in the DyeStat Performance of the Week voting. |
