Sambu Inks Extension with NikePublished by
Stephen Sambu will continue to sport the swoosh in racesBy Chris Lotsbom, Dyestat Editor According to elite athlete manager Karen Locke, Stephen Sambu has extended his sponsorship deal with Nike. Since graduating from Arizona, Sambu has sported the swoosh on both the track and roads, finding success on both surfaces. Sambu, 28, has made a name for himself being versatile at all distances, and moved up to the marathon in October in Chicago (2:13:35 for fifth). Most recently, he helped pace Eliud Kipchoge during the Breaking2 event in Italy. Sambu has already run well this year, notching a 13:22 runner-up finish at the B.A.A. 5K in April (only behind Ben True); was third at both the World's Best 10K and UAE Healthy Kidney 10K, and won the Shamrock Shuffle 8K in Chicago. Sambu isn't the only elite with a new sponsorship deal. Shadrack Biwott, fresh off a fourth-place result at the Boston Marathon, signed with Brooks earlier this month and will wear the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project uniform. Biwott is also represented by Locke. More news |
