Elevated Fan and Athlete Mix Zone to Add a Party Atmosphere at ISATF Berlin

The ISTAF Berlin organizers are trying something new for the 2017 edition of the iconic meet, to be held Sunday in the Berlin Olympic stadium.

According to an article from the meet Web site (translation from German required), an athlete awards and fan mix zone will be suspended over the track, creating a tunnel that track athletes will run through.

The stage area, positioned over the apex of the first curve, will overlook the pole vault runway as well as the start line for the events that begin in lanes.

The stage was still under construction Friday according to a photograph shared by Kerry O'Flaherty, a 2016 Olympian for Ireland.

The application deadline to access the fan zone has already passed.
