Reiser and Davis were both timed in 24:13 over the 8-kilometer course. Syracuse rolled in with 3-4-5-11-12 and didn't use the top-ranked runner in the country, Justyn Knight. Seniors Colin Bennie and Philo Germano and sophomore Aidan Tooker led the Orange.

Illinois was second with 56 points and Indiana, led by Ben Veatch's sixth place, was third with 106.

The meet was held as bands of rain from Hurricane Juan moved through the area.

Providence won a competitive women's team competition with 71 points, fending off Indiana (78) and Georgetown (78). Dartmouth (132) and Cornell (143) of the Ivy League were fourth and fifth.

New Hampshire standout Elinor Purrier won the 5-kilometer women's race in 16:49 and had a winning margin of 14 seconds. Providence put its lead trio across in fourth, fifth and sixth place to power the Friars to the win.
