Kate Murphy Unlikely to Debut for Oregon Ducks in 2017 Cross Country SeasonBy Adam Kopet According to a report by Chris Hansen of the Register Guard, Kate Murphy will likely redshirt for Oregon this cross country season. Murphy is still getting past injuries that hampered her senior track season at Lake Braddock VA. The decision to redshirt the season has not been finalized, but the Oregon coaches believe it is likely as the Ducks open their season Friday at the Bill Dellinger Invitational. Oregon's originally planned season opener was canceled due to poor air quality from wildfire smoke. Murphy had a big year on the track in 2016. She became the No. 3 prep performer in the 1,500 meters, running 4:07.21 and she earned a spot in the 1,500 semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Murphy also won the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships 3,000, running 9:10.51, qualifying for the IAAF World U20 Championships. More news |
