Herskind guided Rebels to more state podium finishes than any team in California history

After 21 years, Ingrid Herskind has decided to step down as boys cross country coach at Flintridge Prep School in La Canada Flintridge, Calif., according to a school press release.

Herskind led the Rebels to five Division 5 state championships and six CIF-Southern Section titles, in addition to 20 Prep League crowns. Flintridge Prep also took runner-up in the state seven times and added eight second-place finishes at section finals.

Flintridge Prep's 16 state podium finishes from 1997-2016 are the most by any team in state history.

Herskind coached a pair of state individual champions, including Alan Yoho in 2013 and Evan Pattinelli in November. Yoho went on to be an All-American at Nike Cross Nationals, with Jack Van Scoter securing All-America honorable mention accolades at the 2015 Foot Locker Nationals.

Van Scoter led Flintridge Prep to the fastest Division 5 time in state history on the Woodward Park course in Fresno with its 79:40 in 2015.

Herskind will remain on campus as boys and girls swim coach, in addition to continuing her role as the school's global studies coordinator. Scott Jung, the Rebels' track and field coach and cross country assistant, will take over as Flintridge Prep boys cross country coach with Eric Kleinsasser serving as his assistant in the fall.
