George Walton Comprehensive GA junior Tia Jones elevated to the No. 6 all-time high school performer by clocking a state indoor record 8.15 seconds, with Rock Canyon CO senior Emily Sloan running 8.21 to improve to the 11th prep performer in history.

"I felt great. It was a great race and I surprised myself," said Jones, whose previous personal best was 8.29 in the prelims.  JONES INTERVIEW

"After my race, I was just emotionally happy. I was telling myself I want to go 8.1, but it surprised me when I actually did."

Only former George Washington star Dior Hall -- the No. 2 all-time prep performer at 8.11 -- has run faster in Colorado high school history than Sloan.

A rematch is expected March 10-11 at the New Balance Nationals Indoor at The Armory in New York. Sloan is entered in the 60 hurdles prelims Feb. 17 at the USATF Indoor Championships, but Jones is still undecided about competing in Albuquerque, N.M.
