Sydney McLaughlin made her outdoor collegiate debut in the 400 meters a memorable one, taking down the facility and Pepsi Florida Relays records by going 50.07 seconds at Percy Beard Track.

The Kentucky freshman jumped all the way to the No. 2 performer in collegiate history, trailing only Courtney Okolo of Texas (49.71 in 2016 and 50.03 in 2014).

It's also a world-leading time for McLaughlin, who is off to a roaring start to her season at the Florida Relays. She had earlier run 22.39 in the 200 meters for a low-altitude U.S. U-20 record.

McLaughlin's 400-meter time is No. 5 all-time on the world U-20 list and is the fastest since Sanya Richards 14 years ago.

In other Friday competition at the Florida Relays, McLaughlin's Kentucky teammate Jasmine Camacho-Quinn ran a strong season opener of 12.77 in the 100-meter hurdles.

Florida's Grant Holloway, the indoor NCAA hurdles champion, ran 13.45 in the 110 hurdles.

Nathan Strother of Tennessee led four men under 46 seconds in the 400 meters, running 45.46 seconds.

High school sprint phenoms Anthony Schwartz of Heritage American FL ran 10.16 to win the boys 100 meters and Gainesville FL freshman Tamari Davis ran 11.34 to win her final.
