Tinker Hatfield Sees Big Problems With Hayward Re-Design

The tear-down of Hayward Field could start within the next two weeks and yet the argument still rages over what's going on. 

Nike design legend Tinker Hatfield, an Oregon alum and architect of the Air Jordan shoe and the Hayward Field scoreboard -- among many other things -- offered The Oregonian's Ken Goe a detailed email explaining why the new design is bad for spectators and bad for performances. 

Even in this 11th hour, Hatfield urges the decision makers in this process to take heed. 

If spectators don't have a reliable roof over their heads, then Hatfield is right.
