Less than a week to go until national and state titles are awarded

June 11, 2018

With more than 200,000 participating athletes, on more than 3,000 teams, the inaugural Brooks PR Score season comes to a close next week, as national and state champions are crowned.

Continuing their run atop the national rankings, the River Ridge High School (Lacey, WA) boys and Wellspring Prep High School (Grand Rapids, MI) girls hold narrow leads over the competition.

River Ridge holds a half-point lead over Skyline (CA), leading all participating teams (both boys and girls) with a PR Score of 72.4. The River Ridge score has held steady much of the back half of the season, but Skyline continues to rise.

While it remains to be seen if Skyline has the ability to make one last push to jump over River Ridge, the two are clear ahead of third place Sunset (OR), who’s PR Score of 69.8 leaves them well ahead of the rest of the field.

Owning a lead of just two-tenths of a point, Wellspring Prep hopes to fend off a late move by former US#1 Providence (CA), as the two squads own PR Scores of 63.0 and 62.8 respectively. With one week left, a small shift from either team could very well claim one the national title, while third place Watersprings (ID) owns a score of 61.9, still slightly within reach for top prize.

The fastest riser of the past three weeks has been the girls team from S.J. Tilden High School in New York City. Jumping into the top ten of late, currently sitting at US#4 with 61.6, no team has made as dramatic of a late season push as this squad.

Sanger (CA) ranks US#5, just ahead of ASU Prep Academy Polytechnic (AZ), both scoring above 60 points on the season (60.8 and 60.7), with North Creek (WA), Marina (CA), Gilroy (CA) and Sunset (OR) round out the top ten.

On the boys side, Newport (WA) sits solidly at US#4 with a 68.4 PR Score, as North Creek (WA) and Suffield (CT) own US#5 and US#6 with scores above 67.0.

In a tie for US#7, Marina (CA) and Cove (OR) each score 66.9. California has four top-ten ranked squads, with Dublin (CA) and De La Salle (CA) conclude the top ten.
