Quijera, representing the host country, won the men’s javelin Saturday with a fourth-round throw of 246-6 (75.13m) to surpass Italy’s Roberto Bertolini at 245-5 (74.81m).

David, competing for France, captured the women’s triple jump title Friday with a personal-best 46-5.25 (14.15m) in the fourth round. Italy’s Ottavia Cestonaro secured silver with a leap of 46-1.25 (14.05m).

David and Quijera both placed second at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships, with David also adding a fourth-place finish in the long jump for the Gators.

Quijera took runner-up to teammate Anderson Peters of Grenada with a personal-best throw June 6 of 263-2 (80.21m), with David finishing second June 9 to four-time Division 1 champion and three-time USATF Outdoor winner Keturah Orji of Georgia.

David entered the meet with a PR of 46-4.25 (14.13m) from April, before improving the mark to 46-4.75 (14.14m) in the second round and then again in the fourth round.
