New Balance Nationals Indoor Returning To The Armory

NEW YORK, September 17, 2018  The Armory Foundation announces the return of New Balance Nationals Indoor to The Armory’s New Balance Track & Field Center. The National Scholastic Athletics Foundation (NSAF) and The Armory Foundation have entered into an agreement that will keep New Balance Nationals Indoor at The Armory for at least the next two seasons.

The New Balance Nationals Indoor will take place March 8-10 during the upcoming 2018-19 indoor season. The NSAF has operated the indoor national meet since 1999, and the meet has been hosted by The Armory since 2011. The Armory Foundation is thrilled to continue to host the best high school athletes from across the country as they run, jump, and throw their way to national championships.

“The Armory is delighted that NBNI is returning to the fastest track in the world,” said Armory Foundation Co-President Rita Finkel. “Both NSAF and New Balance are tremendous partners, and all of us here at The Armory look forward to welcoming this spectacular event.”

“During the past eight years, since we started hosting NBNI at The Armory and with New Balance, we’ve seen many of the greatest performances and meets in high school history,” said Jim Spier, Executive Director of the NSAF. “Having great partners like The Armory and New Balance is a big reason why this happens and we anticipate more of the same in the years ahead.”

Each year, more than 3,500 athletes flock to The Armory for this meet from over 40 states, as well as several Canadian provinces. New Balance Nationals Indoor crowns national champions in 48 track and field events, and also offers an additional 40 events in the Emerging Elite and Freshman categories. The mixed-gender 4x400m relay was added in 2018, and is expected to be a regular part of the New Balance Nationals Indoor program moving forward. In the past two years alone, track and field superstars such as Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, Sydney McLaughlin, and Katelyn Tuohy have competed and won championships at New Balance Nationals Indoor.

The Armory Foundation is proud to work with New Balance and the Nationals Scholastic Athletics Foundation to put on the only high school indoor national championship meet in the United States. The Foundation thanks everyone who played a role in ensuring that this stellar meet will continue to have a home at The Armory through 2020.
