World Marathon Majors Adds Masters Age Group RacesPublished by
Abbott World Marathon Majors to Host Wanda Age Group World ChampionshipsBy Adam Kopet The Abbott World Marathon Majors announced Wednesday the newly formed Wanda Age Group World Rankings and the Wanda Age Group World Championships. This is an expansion of the World Marathon Majors into masters age group competition. Beginning with next week's Berlin Marathon, qualifying will be possible at more than 50 marathons around the world over the following year for the Wanda Age Group World Championships, which will be held as part of the 2020 London Marathon. Age groups for the event begin at 40 years old and follow five-year increments through the 75-79 age group. There is an additional 80 years old and above category. Of the more than 50 qualifying races, 16 of them take place in the United States, including the World Marathon Majors races in Boston, Chicago and New York City (complete list of qualifying marathons).
