Nike Cross Virtual (NXV) week number two wrapped up Sunday, as new teams and individuals jumped into the top ten, showing excellent form as October racing got underway.
Last week, Run Brave XC Club (ID) dominated the girls side team standings, with three runners listed in the top seven nationally. While some big-time performances were added to the leaderboard from other teams this past week, Run Brave XC Club continues to hold a commanding lead.
Coming in at US#2, Chicago Latin XC Club (IL) sits 26 points behind Run Brave, but 36 points ahead of US#3 IMG Academy XC Club (FL). IMG Academy sophomore Tatum David ran a tremendous race over the weekend in Arizona at the Desert Twilight XC Invitational, moving up to US#1 individually with her 16:41 5k effort.
Angelina Perez (Jr., Lakeland Regional XC Club, NJ) maintained a top three individual ranking with her 16:58 effort two weeks ago, while Mia Barnett (Sr., Crescenta Valley XC Club, CA) sits US#3 with a 17:00 5k best.
Individually, Jack Scherer (Sr., Unattached - WI) ran great at the Desert Twilight XC Invitational, earning US#1 status with a 14:54 5k performance. Scherer comes in one second ahead of Oregon senior Michael Maiorano, while Benzie Central XC Club sophomore Hunter Jones ranks #US#3 with a 14:56 5k mark.
