Valarie Allman Sends Discus Farther Than Any Woman In 30 YearsPublished by
Olympic Champion Breaks Her Own American Record With 234-5 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Valarie Allman is reclaiming territory in the women's discus that once belonged only to state-sponsored doping regimes. Allman threw farther than any woman since 1992 on Friday at the Triton Invitational in San Diego with a second-attempt throw that traveled 71.46 meters, or 234 feet, 5 inches. That's a foot past her own American record from 2021. Of the 70 throws in history that have gone farther, the most recent came from Xiao Yanling of China in 1992 (71.68m). The others all came between 1980 and 1989. Allman, who competes for ASICS and the New York Athletic Club, crossed the 70-meter line for the fourth time in her career. She now owns the seven farthest throws in U.S. history.
