Elise Cooper Returning To Armory For Hispanic GamesPublished by
Olympic Trialist Leads Entries For Armory Hispanic Games By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor John Nepolitan photo One of the country's top senior sprinters, Elise Coooper of McDonogh School MD, is set to make her Armory debut on Saturday at the Armory Hispanic Games. WATCH THE ARMORY HISPANIC GAMES LIVE ON ARMORYTRACK.ORG (+PLUS required) Cooper ran a personal best time of 22.71 seconds in the 200 at the U.S. Olympic Trials last summer and is one of top athletes in the Class of 2025. She is entered in the 55 meters and 400 meters. Her sister, Elena Cooper, is one of the top entries in the long jump. The meet begins later today, primarily with freshman, novice and sophomore races, and prelims. The main events are Saturday. Freshman Jasmine Jackson of Winslow Township NJ is entered in the 200 meters as well as the 55-meter hurdles. Sariah Doresca of Baldwin NY is also entered in th 55 and 200. She is US#8 in the dash. Cymia Yourish from St. John's College, a senior, is the top entry in the girls 400. Ella Michelitch from Minisink Valley NY, the reigning New Balance Nationals Outdoor champion in the high jump, will face strong competition from Sierra Swangin of James Hubert Lake MD. Michelitch has a personal best of 5-10 and Swangin has jumped 5-9. Jessica Oji from Livingtston NJ, already US#1 in the shot put, will look to improve upon her early top mark of 51-8. Elizabeth Szybalski of Maverick Track Club MD is the top entry in the 800 meters. Foot Locker finalist Tess Sherry from Conard CT is in the 3,000 meters. Ridge NJ has the top lineup assembled for the girls 4x800 and could take aim at the US#1 time of 9:21.89 by Bullis MD. Meagan Ewers of Medgar Evers NY, US#3 in the weight throw, leads the entries in that event. The boys invitational mile features Marshall Vernon of LaSalle Academy RI taking on Tsedeke Jakovics of Old Mill Senior MD and Nicholas Mazzeo from Lower Merion PA. Jordaine Johnson from East Orange NJ comes in to the the meet after posting a personal best and US#1 21.09 on Dec. 20 at the Essex County Track Coaches Association Opener. Johnson is also in the 400 where he will face sub-48 runners Jaylen Bennett and Damon Ferguson. North Rockland NY teammates Marc Cherry and Ryan Tuohy top the entries in the 2-mile. Damilola Oyeniran and Quentin Braithwaite, representing The House Running Club of Washington, D.C., are among the top entries in the boys 55 and 200 meters. Colonie Central NY high jumper Ryan Buskey comes in as the US#1 high jumper with a clearance at 7-2. Luke Beattie from Warwick Valley NY is the top pole vaulter in the field. Wyatt Gravier fron=m Bronxvillle NY is the top hurdler in the meet, with US#3 7.31 achieved last weekend at the U.S. Marine Corps Holiday Classic. Charles Sullivan, US#8 in the weight throw, is looking to improve on his best of 68-6.50.
