Palos Verdes CA senior Samantha Steman took second in the 3-mile girls varsity race in 18:03.1 at the Bay League finals at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Steman, the 2017 champion and fifth-place finisher last year, helped Palos Verdes take the top two spots, along with fellow senior Savannah Scriven winning in 17:54.2, but Mira Costa placed five scorers in the top 11 to secure a 37-39 victory and a second straight team title.
