Marvin Bracy-Williams Still Chasing Football DreamPublished by
Bracy-Williams Chasing Football Dreams in Alliance of American FootballBy Adam Kopet Marvin Bracy-Williams made the decision to give up track for football two years ago after competing in the 100 meters at the 2016 Olympics. He has yet to make a regular-season NFL team roster, but he is now trying out for the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football, according to Stephen Ruiz for the Orlando Sentinel. Bracy-Williams committed to Florida State to primarily play football. However, after redshirting his freshman football season he turned pro in track following a strong indoor campaign that saw him run 6.54 seconds for 60 meters. In the following four years, Bracy-Williams captured a silver medal at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships over 60 meters. He also represented the U.S. at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships and the 2016 Olympics. In 2017, Bracy-Williams tried out for the Dallas Cowboys and eventually signed with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he was cut prior to the regular season. This year, Bracy-Williams signed with the Seattle Seahawks on two separate occasions, but did not start the regular season with the team. He plays wide receiver. Now, Bracy-Williams is making an attempt to play in the new Alliance of American Football. He is taking part in a league-wide training camp in San Antonio this week with the goal of making the 52-man roster of the Orlando Apollos. The Apollos open the 2019 season Feb. 9 against the Atlanta Legends at UCF. Bracy-Williams considers himself a football player who runs track, but at 25 years old, he still has time to make a return to the track for an attempt to qualify for the 2020 Olympics, should he choose.
