FDR NY's Sarah Trainor Dips Under National Record In 2K Steeple By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Sarah Trainor, a junior from Franklin D. Roosevelt High in Hyde Park, N.Y., broke the national high school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday in her home meet -- the sixth annual Race At The Oval Office. Trainor won the race in 6 minutes, 29.08 seconds. That moved her past Maddy Meyers of The Northwest School WA, who ran 6:29.20 in 2011. As a sophomore last year, Trainor was No. 2 in the country behind Taylor Ewert, with 6:41.47 at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. Trainor returned to the track after the steeplechase and won the 800 meters in 2:16.60 as well as the 1,500 in 4:34.19. Trainor recently placed 14th in the 3,000 meters at the Penn Relays, with 9:57.62. She was ninth in the 800 meters at New Balance Nationals Indoor, with a personal best 2:08.60.
