Hall, the national high school record holder, was competing in her first heptathlon since placing ninth at last year’s IAAF World U-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.

The Georgia-bound Hall ran 13.95 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, cleared 5-11.50 (1.82m) in the high jump, produced a mark of 40-0.75 (12.21m) in the shot put and clocked 24.20 seconds in the 200 meters.

Hall is 147 points ahead of her first-day pace when she achieved the national prep record of 5,798 points at last year’s Great Southwest Classic in New Mexico. She is 131 points in front of her first-day score from last year’s USATF U-20 Outdoor Championships.

Hall is looking to become the first heptathlete to repeat as U-20 champion since former UCLA and Kansas State standout Ryann Krais in 2008-09 and just the fourth in meet history.

Former Georgia star Kendell Williams, the American U-20 record holder at 6,018 points, accumulated 3,719 points during the first day of her historic performance in 2014.

Divine Savior Holy Angels WI junior Jadin O’Brien is in second place with 3,276 points and North Carolina State freshman Timara Chapman is third with 3,183 points. Bryanna Craig of Millville Senior NJ, the freshman class national record holder, is fourth with 3,131 points.

Cal freshman Hakim McMorris leads the decathlon at the midway point with 3,606 points, with St. Christopher’s VA graduate Elby Omohundro in second at 3,480 points and Brentwood TN junior Jett Kinder in third at 3,435.
