Alan Webb Joins Arkansas-Little Rock Coaching StaffPublished by
Alan Webb Hired as Associate Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Arkansas-Little RockBy Adam Kopet Alan Webb has joined the coaching staff at Arkansas-Little Rock as an associate head coach for cross country and an assistant coach for track and field, according to a team press release. Webb is best known for his racing exploits on the track. He broke the high school national record in the mile at the 2001 Prefontaine Classic, running 3:53.43. After turning pro in 2002, Webb went on to set the American record in the mile in 2007, running 3:46.91. Not just a miler, Webb also ran personal bests of 1:43.84 for 800 meters, 3:30.54 for 1,500 meters, 13:10.86 for 5,000 meters and 27:34.72 for 10,000 meters. He was a three-time national champion in the 1,500 meters (2004, 2005 and 2007). Webb has most recently served as an assistant coach at Portland State. He helped the Viking women finish fifth at the Big Sky Cross Country Championships and 15th at the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships. He served a limited role at Portland State, having joined the coaching staff mid-season. At Arkansas-Little Rock, Webb will serve as head coach of the cross country program and coach the distance runners during the track and field season. He has been joined in Little Rock by his wife, Julia and his three daughters. More news |
