Price, Peters Run Course Record Times At Hole In The Wall

By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

Jonas Price and Kate Peters broke course records again and Jesuit OR won a big invitational for the second week in a row in the state of Washington.

The Hole In The Wall Invitational, in Lakewood, produced races with fast times.

Price, a senior from Eisenhower, broke his fourth course this season by running 14:49.9 and defeating Alaska's 4A champion, Santiago Prosser of Dimond, by 22 seconds.

On the girls side, Lincoln freshman Kate Peters dipped under 17 minutes for the first time in her cross county career, outlasting Issaquah junior Julia David Smith by nine seconds, in 16:58.7.

Peters' younger sister, Ana, won the middle school girls race by more than half a minute (9:43.6 for 1.7 miles).

RESULTS

Price and Peters began the season by both setting course records at the Ash Creek Preserve XC Festival in Monmouth, Ore.

Jesuit won the Twilight Invitational in Marysville, Wash. a week ago and came back to the Puget Sound for the second straight week to simulate the back-to-back efforts of the Oregon state championship meet and NXR Northwest.

The 14th-ranked Crusader boys team was led by Declan O'Scannlain's ninth-place finsh (15:33.9) and the split on five scorers was 15 seconds.

Jesuit scored 72 points to beat Bishop Blanchet (110) and Northwest No. 3 Tahoma (138) and Northwest No. 5 Camas (153).

The girls race was decided by one point, with Jesuit edging Lincoln of Portland by one point, 86 to 87.

North Central WA, still running without injured Allie Janke, was third with 111 points.

Jesuit sophomore Chloe Foerster ran 17:18.8 for third place and Alex Kebbe finished 12th in 17:58.8.

Lincoln held advantages at the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 spots, but the Crusaders were a bit better at No. 5 and pulled out the narrow victory.

California teams Vista Murrieta, Sage Creek and Mira Costa finished fourth, fifth and sixth.
