Paul Chelimo to Race Cross International Juan MuguerzaBy Adam Kopet Paul Chelimo is slated to race Sunday at the Cross International Juan Muguerza in Elgoibar, Spain, according to EFE Spain (requires translation). Chelimo has made his name as a 5,000-meter runner, having won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics and the bronze medal at the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships. He has a best of 12:57.55, ranking him fourth on the U.S. all-time performer list. However, Chelimo began to diversify the events he competed in in 2019. He competed over 10,000 meters and he made his debut in the half marathon, running 27:43.89 in the former and finishing third at the NYC Half in 1:02:19 in the latter. Chelimo opened his 2020 season last weekend as a guest athlete at the Kenyan Cross Country Championships. The men run 10.8K at the Cross International Juan Muguerza. The women run 7.6K. Hellen Obiri of Kenya will attempt to defend her 2019 win in the women's race. More news |
