Olympia HS Junior Wins 800, 1,600 and 3200 At South Puget Sound League Meet By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor/Photos by Phil Yearian Ethan Coleman of Olympia keeps creating challenges for himself this spring and then bowling them over. The junior took on all three distance events at the SPSL Championship meet in Puyallup, which stretched over three days and put together an impressive triple. Coleman won the 1,600 meters in 4:12.28, then took the 800 on Friday in 1:54.75, and lastly won the 3,200 in 8:54.64 with a solo effort Saturday. "When we heard they were all going to be split up on three different days, I thought I don't know if I've ever heard of anyone who's actually done this and won them all before," Coleman said. "I knew the 800 would probably be the toughest one, and it was perfect coming into the 32 today." Coleman's teammate, Jack OIsen, added a big win the javelin with 196-11. Bellarmine Prep junior Ella Borsheim also challenged herself by competing in the 400, 800 and 1,600 meters – all at a high level. Borsheim won the 1,600 in a PR time of 4:48.27 and won the 800 in a season's best 2:13.11. For her third event she chose to test her speed in the 400. She finished fourth in that event, in 59.78. "I don't usually do that triple, because of the 400. It was really fun though, a good weekend," Borsheim said. She said she is looking forward to the Tacoma High Performance Meet on May 15. Rieko Wilford helped lead Curtis to the girls team title by taking a leg on the winning 4x200 relay, the second-place 4x400 relay and sweeping the triple jump and long jump. She jumped a lifetime best 39-8.75 in the triple jump and added 17-9 in the long jump.
