ON ATHLETICS CLUB (OAC) REVEALS ITS ELITE TRACK AND FIELD TALENT AHEAD OF THE U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

Middle and long distance contenders for Team USA welcome Sage Hurta as the newest addition announced to the Boulder-based running club

Eugene, OR – Friday, June 18th, 2021:  On, the Swiss high-performance sportswear company, presented its elite team of world class athletes from On Athletics Club (OAC) competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials, and announced the newest addition to its growing roster during a press conference in Eugene, Oregon, on Thursday, June 17th.

The running community and national media convened at the renowned Wild Duck Cafe by Hayward Field, on the eve of track and field’s most critical week prior to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, to meet the four OAC athletes vying for spots on the U.S. Olympic Team in the 10,000m and 3000m steeplechase.

Competing OAC athletes Joe Klecker (10,000m), Leah Falland (3000m Steeplechase), Emily Oren (3000m Steeplechase) and Alicia Monson (10,000m) were introduced by OAC Coach Dathan Ritzenhein, prior to him announcing 2021 NCAA Mile Champion, Sage Hurta, as the newest addition to the acclaimed Boulder-based running club. The NCAA National Champion and Scholar Athlete has demonstrated world-class range, winning a 400m (without blocks) in 54 seconds and her one-and-only 3,000m steeplechase for a 2019 PAC 12 title. Sage’s specialty has been the mile, where she won the NCAA indoor championship in 2021 and finished runner-up in the outdoor 1,500m. As a 7 x NCAA All American, and with a double major in chemical and biological engineering, Sage hails from the University of Colorado.

“As we enter in to the year’s most important week of competition, we’re very excited to announce Sage Hurta as the newest addition to On Athletics Club, since the introduction of our eight founding members in August last year,” said Coach Dathan Ritzenhein. “With an already remarkable track record, Sage has demonstrated her ability to become a true champion. Her pure speed, combined with outstanding strength and endurance, makes her a potential world medalist for years to come. As our team approaches its 12-month milestone, we’re proud to welcome Sage to the OAC roster, as our first new recruit of 2021.”

Also in attendance at Thursday’s press conference to applaud the team’s latest addition, were fellow OAC athletes Oliver “Olli” Hoare (Australia), Carlos Villarreal (Mexico) and George “Geordie” Beamish (New Zealand).
