HOKA ONE ONE® Postal Nationals Returns for the 2021 Cross Country SeasonPublished by
Teams from across the United States are set to compete for state and national bragging rights this season
(EUGENE, OR.) August 24, 2021 — RunnerSpace and HOKA ONE ONE® are excited to announce the 2021 launch of the eighth annual HOKA ONE ONE® Postal Nationals. From August 24 through October 31, cross country teams across the nation will race to compete for a national title.
In its eighth year since initially reviving a tradition from the 1970s, HOKA Postal Nationals empowers high school cross country teams from every state to compete against each other in a timed two-mile race on the track.
The unique dynamic of varying distances and terrain in cross country races typically makes it hard to gauge relative comparisons, but HOKA Postal Nationals levels the playing field to rank cross country teams by having them race on the track. The times of each team’s top five finishers are uploaded to state and national online leaderboards powered by RunnerSpace making the comparison of teams available.
In 2020, the HOKA Postal Nationals program set a record with more than 750 participating teams from across the United States, having raced and uploaded results to the national leaderboard. In the end, both winning clubs ran HOKA Postal Nationals top-5 all-time efforts.
At the top of the rankings, the girls of Mt. Prospect (IL) ran a HOKA Postal Nationals #5 all-time team time of 56:36.80 (11:29 average). On the boys’ side, the Satellite (FL) boys turned in a HOKA Postal Nationals #4 all-time team time of 47:14.20 (9:27 average) to take the top spot. This rising trend follows previous years of growth and improvement, attracting higher quality and quantity of participation each year.
Coaches can now register to host a Local Postal Event where three or more teams participate in a coordinated race. For Local Postal Events host coaches will receive a kit of supplies to help elevate the athlete experience. Additionally, all participating coaches who upload their team’s results to the official leaderboard receive a free pair of HOKA shoes at the end of the season.
