Washington Indoor Preview Begins Winter Slate Of Meets At Dempsey Indoor

Robust college fields that include athletes from Stanford, Portland, Boise State, as well as host Washington, will be joined by post-collegians and pros in the distance events on Saturday at the Washington Indoor Preview at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle. 

The meet is the first of four this winter at the University of Washington's indoor track. 

Of particular interest are the races between 800 meters and 3,000.

Former Washington star Amy-Eloise Markovc, who made her Olympic Games debut last summer for her native Great Britain in the 5,000 meters, is entered in both the mile and the 3,000 meters. 

The mile field also includes Tinman Elite's first female athlete, Tori Gerlach, Oiselle/Littlewing pro Rebecca Mehra, and Canadian Addy Townsend. 

Markovc, Gerlach and Mehra are also listed in the 3,000. Stanford's Christina Aragon and Washington's Haley Herberg and Allie Schadler are also in that event. 

Townsend and Molly Sughroue are entered in the 800. 

A strong men's mile field is headlined by Johnny Gregorek of Asics and Sam Prakel of adidas. Tinman Elite's Joey Berriatua, Stanford's Charles Hicks and John Lester, Washington State's Zach Stallings and Princeton's Duncan Miller are also entered.

Prakel and Gregorek are also listed in the 3,000 meters, which includes Washington's Talon Hull, Portland's Matt Strangio and OTC Elite's Vincent Ciattei. 

Another intriguing entry is high school junior Tyrone Gorze of Crater OR, who placed sixth at the Eastbay Cross Country Championships last month. 

Post-collegians Mark Wieczorek and Derek Holdsworth are on the list for the 800.
