By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

The Union Catholic NJ girls won a high quality girls Distance Medley Relay on Tuesday at the U.S. Army Eastern States Championships at The Armory in New York City.

The Vikings, who already own the nation's top time in the boys DMR, moved to No. 2 in the country on the girls side with 11:45.70. Peyton Hollis, a recent transfer, anchored in 4:47.1 in her second meet for UC. Hollis absorbed a big effort from Colts Neck and anchor Lilly Shapiro (4:43.6), who closed the gap with 400 meters to go.

Hollis saved a final move to pull away again.

Colts Neck finished second with US#3 11:49.73.

Ridgefield, a third New Jersey team, was third with US#7 12:16.94.
