Jordan Anthony Puts Final Touches On State Meet Career By Helping Tylertown Win 3A Boys Title; Clinton Dominates 6A; Brookhaven Sweeps 5A

Jordan Anthony's outdoor season will be defined by meets yet to come but the Tylertown senior made sure give a maximum effort for his team at the Mississippi state championships. 

Anthony won 3A titles in the 100 (10.48 into a headwind), 200 meters (21.06) and was part of victorious 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Jeremiah Dillon, Wildrekus Johnson (400 winner), Kendrell Robertson (110 and 300 hurdles winner) also made big contributions to Tylertown's 139-point total. 

At the Class 6A level, Clinton proved to be the dominant team with 140 points on the boys side and 150 points for the girls. 

Clinton's boys 4x800 relay broke the all-time state best with 8:06.07. Freshman Omari Hampton swept the 100 and 200 meters. Frank Bradley-Reed ran 48.87 to win the 400. 

The Clinton girls won the 4x100 and 4x200 relays and Corshunna Hughes won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.34. Aniya Madkin won the long jump (17-10.50). 

At the Class 5A level, Brookhaven was no less dominant. The boys amassed 150 points and the girls scored 130.5 points for a program sweep. 

The girls won the 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 relays. 

Grayson Childress, Sam Arnold and Jake Thompson went 1-2-3 for Brookhaven in the 1,600 meters. Arnold, Childress and Trey Knott went 1-2-4 in the 3,200. The team also won the 4x400 and 4x800. 

Arvesta Troupe from Itawamba Agricultural School won the 4A high jump with a clearance at 6-10. 

Long Beach senior Brooklyn Biancamano made her final state meet memorable by winning the 5A 800 (2:20.79), 1,600 (5:15.28) and 3,200 (12:03.97) and also taking second in the 400. The Arkansas recruit won a total of 12 state track titles and five cross country titles.

Valencia Watson of Ridgeland won the 100-200 double in Class 5A with 12.21 and 25.00. 

John Scott Kendricks, a junior at Oxford and the younger brother of American record holder Sam Kendricks, won the 6A boys pole vault with 16-6.50. 

In the 6A girls pole vault, Katelyn Hulsey from Northwest Rankin, broke the all-time state record with 13-1.75.
