Wiley follows lifetime-best 1:59.00 effort in 800 meters with 4:37.7 performance to triumph in women’s pro road race, with Ciattei edging fellow Under Armour competitor Knevelbaard in men’s event after both athletes are timed in 4:04.6; Kendricks, Williams prevail in street vault showcase By Erik Boal, DyeStat Editor Addy Wiley secured her second victory in less than 24 hours in Memphis, with Vincent Ciattei rebounding in impressive fashion Saturday, as both athletes triumphed in the Beale Street Murphey Mile road races. Sam Kendricks and Bridget Williams also earned wins in the street vault competitions as part of the seventh edition of the Ed Murphey Classic in Tennessee. Wiley, a seven-time NAIA champion at Huntington University in Indiana, ran 4 minutes, 37.7 seconds to prevail in the women’s pro race, with New Balance competitor Dani Jones placing second in 4:39.8 and adidas athlete Katie Izzo taking third in 4:40.7. BEALE STREET MURPHEY MILE RESULTS | POLE VAULT RESULTS Wiley secured victory in the women’s elite 800-meter race Friday in a lifetime-best 1:59.00. Ciattei clocked 4:04.6 in the men’s pro race, edging fellow Under Armour competitor Kasey Knevelbaard, who placed second in an identical time. Dillon Maggard, representing Brooks, was third in 4:05.9. Ciattei took third Friday in the professional men’s 1,500 race in 3:35.55. Kendricks and Chris Nilsen, both competing for Nike, each cleared 19-1 (5.82m) on their first attempts, in addition to missing three opportunities apiece at 19-5 (5.92m). Kendricks prevailed based on Nilsen needing a pair of attempts to clear 18-5.25 (5.62m). Kendricks made each of his opening five heights on his first try. Williams emerged victorious after being one of three female vaulters to clear 15-0.25 (4.58m), joining fellow American athlete Emily Grove and Canadian competitor Alysha Newman. Williams was successful on her first attempt, Grove made it on her second try and Newman needed three opportunities to move on to the next height. The trio all missed on three attempts apiece at 15-4.25 (4.68m). More news |
