Alex Kristeller Wins Men's Weight Throw as 116th Millrose Games Gets StartedPublished by
Bryce Barkdull Matches US#1 Clearance In Boys Pole Vault By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Alex Kristeller from Manhattan College, currently No. 10 on the NCAA performance list, won the men's weight throw with his fifth-round throw of 70-1 (21.36m) during Friday's field event session to open the 116th Millrose Games at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory. Friday's first events also included a youth clinic. The schedule allows for meet organizers to bring in extra seating and set-up prior to Sunday's meet. Bryce Barkdull from Andover Central KS, a Kansas signee, matched his US#1 clearance with 17-6.50 (5.35m). Barkdull made the winning height on his second attempt. Dyson Wicker of Rockwall TX was the only threat by that point. Wicker, who cleared 17-6 (5.33m) on Feb. 3 at the New Mexico Lobo Classic in Albuquerque, took three attempts at 17-6.50 but was unable to clear it. He finished second at 16-10.75 (5.15m). Kyria Moore from Adelphi University (N.Y.), the runner-up at the 2023 NCAA Division 2 Indoor meet, won the women's weight throw competition with 67-0.50 (20.43m). In the boys weight throw, Aidan Ifkovitz from New Paltz NY launched a best mark of 70-1.25 (21.37m) on his third attempt and for a personal best and moved to US#5. Adelaide Caron of Woonsocket RI moved up from second to first on her final throw with an improvement to 51-8.25 (15.75m), good for US#7. More news |
