Natalie Cook, a senior at Lewisville Flower Mound High in Texas, smashed the nationall high school record in the 5,000 meters by taking third in the women's invitational section and clocking 15:25.93 at the 47th Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif. Cook also achieved the fastest American Under-20 outdoor performance in the event, taking down the 2020 mark of 15:34.47 established by Jenna Hutchins of Science Hill High in Tennessee. Only the 2014 indoor performance of 15:20.57 produced by Wisconsin's Sarah Disanza ranks ahead Cook's effort among U.S. Under-20 marks in the 5,000.
