Green Runs 4:29.08 To Take Mile In First Race In 12 Months

Hanna Green, Pat Tiernan, Rebecca Mehra and Dillon Maggard all made good use of a winter racing opportunity and the University of Washington, Brigham Young and Washington State worked on the task of securing NCAA qualifying marks on the second day of the Washington Indoor Invitational at Dempsey Indoor. 

Green and Tiernan, both of the OTC Elite, won the miles Saturday. Green, competing for the first time in nearly a year, won the mile in 4:29.08 and five women behind her broke 4:40. 

BYU's Kate Hunter and Simone Plourde both ran personal bests and improved their national standing with fifth- and sixth-place finishes in 4:38.90 and 4:39.59.

Alli Cash, a volunteer assistant coach at Washington, lowered her personal best again in taking second in 4:30.67. 

Tiernan, who joined the OTC Elite last summer, ran 3:56.82 to win the men's mile for a new personal best. Just three weeks ago, Tiernan ran 1:02:38 in a half marathon in Las Vegas. 

Colton Johnsen of Washington State ran a personal-best 3:57.39 for third and moved up on the national list to No. 7. Teammate Zach Stallings also PR'd with 3:58.13 to move up to No. 11. 

Rebecca Mehra of Oiselle Little Wing won the women's 800 meters in 2:06.00. BYU sisters Alena Ellsworth and Lauren Ellsworth finished next in 2:07.24 and 2:07.64, respectively. 

Dillon Maggard of HOKA ONE ONE won the men's 3,000 meters in 7:53.02 and was one of four racers to go under eight minutes. Jackson Mestler of Oregon, who has cross country eligibiilty, was fourth in 7:58.25. 

Evan Mafilas of Washington won the 400 meters in 47.59. 

Skyler Walton from Washington State took the women's 60 dash in 7.61 seconds.
