Foot Locker South Recap Stats - Foot Locker South Regional 2016 - DyeStatFL

Florida had quite a showing this year at the Foot Locker South Regional Championships, as two FL #1's went by the wayside, personal-bests were run, memories were created, and three finalists were named -- Amanda Beach, Bailey Hertenstein, and Charles Hicks. Beach finished fifth in 17:31, Hertenstein was seventh in 17:41, and Hicks was ninth in 15:07 in the Seeded Championship races.

Though the spotlight is shining brightly on these three Floridians, along with all of the other finalists, there were some other great Florida performances throughout the day.  Let’s take a look at a few, shall we?

In the freshman boy’s race, Kyle Skinner ran 16:56 to finish 15th place as Florida’s fastest finisher.

Rounding up top-10 and top-15 finishes in the boys sophomore race were Benjamin Hartvigsen,  Gabriel Curtis, Benjamin Foltz, and Hugh Brittenham. Hartvigsen led the way for Team Florida finishing fifth in the race, running 16:24. Florida was second in the team standings with 52 points. He was followed closely by Curtis, who ran 16:25. Foltz was three second back in ninth at 16:28 and Brittenham finished twelfth in 16:31.

The girl's junior race featured Alayna Goll and Sadie McLaughlin, who finished fourth and sixth respectively. Goll ran 19:14 and McLaughlin ran 19:32

The girls' senior race saw Elayna Goodman and Haleigh Martin finish in the top ten. Goodman finished second in 18:59 setting a new PR, and Martin finished seventh in 19:20. Florida finished third in this race with 64 points.

In the boy's seeded championship race, it was to a Top ten finish for Matthew Clark and Joshua Collins, who finished twelfth and thirteenth. Clark crossed the line in 15:20 and Collins finished in 15:22. Like the girls, Team Florida finished third in this race with 84 points.

The girl's freshman race saw of one Florida’s first-place individual finishes. Spanish River’s Rylee Pustlnik won her race with a nine-second gap, finishing in 18:57. Jordan Shapiro came in eighth place, running 19:35. Florida was second as a team with 67 points.

The girls sophomore race saw Chablis Shreffler finish in the top three, running 19:15.

In the boy's senior race, William Shine, Ari Guardascione-Wolf, Terrance Sessoms, David Hernandez, and Evan Williams, all packed together to finish in the top-10, resulting in Florida winning the Team race with 33 points.  Shine led the way, finishing third in 16:28. Seven seconds behind him was Guardascione-Wolf in fourth, running 16:34. Sessoms was seventh in 16:36, Hernandez was eighth in 16:37, and Williams was tenth in 16:38 respectively.

Taking Florida’s the second of two individual winners for the Sunshine State was Calvary Christian’s Danny Ferro. Ferro crossed the line 16:08, winning only seven seconds over second place. Satellite’s  Charlie Dickinson finished fifth in 16:33 followed by Frostproof’s Antonio Gomez and Satellite’s Walker Hirsch, who finished sixth and seventh, both running 16:34. Sealing the deal for Florida was Tyson Harper and Justin Czrak, who were fourteenth and fifteenth in 16:38 and 16:39.

In all, 220 runners from Florida competed in the 2016 Foot Locker South Championships and can lay claim to the Foot Locker Experience.
