Anthony Schwartz, a junior at American Heritage FL, blasted to a world youth best in the boys 100-meter dash Friday at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

In addition to the world youth best, Schwartz also bested the meet record. His time of 10.15 now ranks him at US#6 all-time.

In the girls 100-meter dash, Symone Mason, a senior at Miami Southridge FL, won with a time of 11.30, just off her US#1 time set earlier this season.

The college events also provided for several fast races. The women's 100-meter hurdles featured two women running 12.69. Alaysha Johnson, an Oregon sophomore, beat Kentucky's Jasmine Camacho-Quinn by 0.008 seconds.

For Johnson, it was a new school record and a big personal best. Camacho-Quinn tied her wind-legal personal best.

In the women's 100-meter dash, Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast ran a wind-aided 10.96 to win. The wind of 2.6 meters per second was just over the allowable limit.

In other action, Isaiah Harris of Penn State ran an NCAA-leading 1:45.64 in the 800 meters. He bested the previous NCAA time set by UTEP freshman Michael Saruni Thursday at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Mexican hammer throw record holder Diego Del Real improved on his season best by over 10 feet with a throw 246-2 (75.03m).

In the steeplechase, Zak Seddon ran a personal-best 8:30.17 to win by 12 seconds. The athlete from Great Britain now has the IAAF World Championships qualifying standard.

The Florida Relays concludes Saturday with a slate of high school and open finals.
