The Donovan Catholic NJ senior finally surpassed the 2014 standard held by Burke SC graduate Raven Saunders with her second-round mark of 57 feet, 1.25 inches Monday at Ocean County Championships at Jackson Liberty High. Wilson, a UCLA signee, set the national indoor prep record with her 57-5.50 (17.51m) performance Feb. 28 at the Eastern States Championships at The Armory in New York. Wilson’s performance Monday was originally announced at 57-3, but the steel tape measured 57-1.25, eclipsing Saunders’ standard of 56-8.25. In addition to the national high school record, Wilson’s performance is a World Under-20 leader this year and makes her the No. 4 all-time American U-20 performer in an outdoor ring. Wilson and Saunders are the only two American U-20 shot putters to surpass 57 feet indoors and outdoors.
