Christian Coleman and Mondo Duplantis Among Six Finalists for the 2017 IAAF Rising Star AwardsBy Adam Kopet The IAAF released the list of finalists for the 2017 Rising Star Awards this week. Among the men's finalists are Christian Coleman and Mondo Duplantis. Coleman captured the silver medal in the 100 meters at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships this summer. He added another silver for his performance on the USA 4x100 relay team. He ran a world-leading 9.82 for the 100 at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships. Duplantis, now a senior at Lafayette LA, set the high school and world U20 records in the pole vault this spring, clearing 19-4.25 (5.90m). He went on to represent Sweden at the World Championships, finishing ninth. The IAAF Rising Star Awards go to one man and one woman from the group of six U23 finalists. The awards will be announced Nov. 24 at the IAAF Athletics Awards 2017 in Monaco. The other finalists include Karsten Warholm of Norway, Yuliya Levchenko of Ukraine, Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain and Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela.
