Stanford Stars Finally Align, Resulting in Collegiate-Leading Women's Distance Medley RelayPublished by
Aragon's indoor debut leads Cardinal to record at Power Five Invitational By Erik Boal, DyeStat Editor It might have only been the fifth-fastest time in Stanford history, but it was plenty good enough to secure a collegiate-leading mark in the women's distance medley relay Friday at the Power Five Invitational at the University of Michigan Indoor Track Building. With Christina Aragon making her indoor debut for the Cardinal to join veterans Olivia Baker, Gaby Gayles and Elise Cranny, Stanford clocked 10 minutes, 58.93 seconds to set meet and facility records, in addition to moving ahead of Pac-12 rival Oregon as the collegiate leader. It marked the fifth year in a row the Cardinal broke 11 minutes in the DMR. Stanford, which ran a program-record 10:53.66 in 2015, is seeking a seventh straight appearance in the NCAA Division 1 indoor final in the relay. Indiana also produced the collegiate-leading mark in the men's DMR, clocking 9:31.64 to move ahead of Oregon. Joseph Murphy, Zubin Muncherji, Daniel Kuhn and Kyle Mau held off Stanford (9:32.98), despite a 3:58.93 anchor by Grant Fisher in his indoor debut for the Cardinal.
