Here are 10 storylines involving female athletes to follow at the 51st Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High.

You can watch the live Webcast of the meet Friday and Saturday.

Bullis on parade

For those athletes and teams on the West Coast who haven’t competed at New Balance Nationals or Penn Relays, the opportunity to not only watch, but compete against Bullis MD promises to be a memorable one.

The Bulldogs set national high school indoor records in the 4x200-meter relay and 4x55 shuttle hurdles relay March 10-11 at New Balance Nationals Indoor in New York and began their march toward potential prep outdoor records this weekend.

Bullis coach Joe Lee is scheduled to bring Shaniya Hall, Lauryn Harris, Sierra Leonard, Leah Phillips, Cierra Pyles, Masai Russell and Ashley Seymour in search of a sweep of 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 victories, in addition to individual glory.

The Bulldogs broke the national 4x200 indoor record set in 2003 by Long Beach Poly CA by running 1:34.75. Poly also holds the 4x200 meet record of 1:33.87, set in 2004, which ranks second all-time to the national prep record of 1:33.43 set in 2014 by St. Thomas Aquinas FL.

Bullis ran 44.88 in the 4x100, 1:35.63 in the 4x200 and 3:41.78 in the 4x400 last year. The meet record in the 4x100 is 44.95 set in 2004 by Poly and 3:39.12 in the 4x400, produced in 2001 by Long Beach Wilson CA.

Wide-open race

Malibu CA junior Claudia Lane ran the second-fastest 3,200-meter time in meet history by clocking 9:57.52 last year, prevailing in a historic battle with Grandview CO standout Brie Oakley (9:57.59).

Lane ran her first 3,200 this season at the Stanford Invitational, securing victory in 10:24.72. But a decision not to race at the event made earlier this week has opened the door for several talented challengers to secure the title.

Among the leading contenders are Nike Cross Nationals and Foot Locker veterans, including Glenbard West IL sophomore Katelynne Hart, Glacier MT senior Annie Hill, Bozeman MT senior Camila Noe, Capistrano Valley CA senior Haley Herberg, Saugus CA senior Mariah Castillo, Mainland Regional NJ senior Alyssa Aldridge, Cheyenne Central WY senior Aubrey Frentheway, Redwood Larkspur CA senior Gillian Wagner and Buchanan CA teammates Meagen Lowe and Corie Smith.

A two-time Foot Locker national cross country champion, Lane has won 11 consecutive 3,200 races in California the past two seasons. Simi Valley CA graduate Sarah Baxter was the last female athlete to repeat in the 3,200 at Arcadia, winning three in a row from 2011-13.

Triple threats

Four female athletes surpassed 40 feet in the triple jump last season, with three of them behind winner Tara Davis of Agoura CA returning this year.

Silver Creek CA senior Arianna Fisher, who won Saturday at the Stanford Invitational, is back along with Castro Valley CA senior Allanah Lee and St. Mary’s Berkeley CA senior Kali Hatcher.

Silver Creek CA senior Jazlynn Shearer should also be in contention, as well as Mater Dei CA teammates Dominique Ruotolo and Jade McDonald, in addition to Curtis WA teammates Lexi Ellis and Saudia Heard.

Ellis and Heard finished second and fifth in 2016 behind Davis. Ellis has the top career jump of any athlete in the field at 42-7.25 (12.99m), looking to become the first Washington individual to win since 2015.

Mooney seeks another memorable mile

Broomfield CO senior Madison Mooney ran 4:47.32 to win the girls mile last year and looks to become the first repeat winner since former Glacier Peak WA star Amy Eloise-Neale, now a standout at University of Washington, achieved the feat in 2011-12.

Mooney is looking to extend a streak of mile winners from schools outside California to nine years in a row.

The last California mile champion was Sammy Silva from Our Lady of Peace in 2009. Another San Diego Section standout could challenge for the victory, as La Costa Canyon CA senior McKenna Brown looks to follow her 1,600-meter victory at the Stanford Invitational.

Oak Ridge CA senior Maddy Denner, Mission Viejo CA junior Kelli Hines, North Summit UT senior Sadie Sargent, Weber UT senior McKenna Lee and Peak to Peak CO teammates Quinn McConnell and Anna Shults add depth to an impressive field.

Seeking hurdling heroics

After Agoura CA standout Tara Davis set a meet record by clocking 13.01 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and Union Catholic NJ Sydney McLaughlin ran a national high school record 38.90 in the 300 hurdles, it will be difficult for any of the talented hurdlers to top those performances Saturday.

Centennial NV graduate Tiana Bonds was the last female athlete to sweep the 100 and 300 hurdles in the same year in 2014, with Rock Canyon CO senior Emily Sloan and Roosevelt CA senior Breanna Bernard-Joseph both possessing the potential to achieve the double.

Sloan has personal bests of 13.46 and 41.24. Bernard-Joseph, who swept both events March 24 at the NIKE Chandler Rotary Invitational, has personal bests of 13.72 and 41.87.

Upland CA senior Jada Hicks, Bakersfield Stockdale CA senior Aaliyah Wilson, Temecula Valley CA senior Danae Dyer and Bullis MD senior Cierra Pyles all pose significant challenges in the 100 hurdles, with Chandler AZ senior Jai Gruenwald, Santa Rosa CA senior Kirsten Carter and Bullis MD senior Masai Russell legitimate contenders in the 300 hurdles.

Chandler back for more

Chandler relied on an impressive anchor last year from Morgan Foster to win the 4x800 relay in 9:07.38, becoming the first Arizona team to win the event since Xavier College Prep in 2011.

The Wolves will look to duplicate the success of Redondo Union CA in 2012-13 and Clovis North CA in 2014-15 by capturing back-to-back titles and enter this year’s meet even stronger with the addition of Desert Vista AZ transfer Haley Wolf.

The last team to run under 9:00 was A. Phillip Randolph NY in 2002, clocking a meet-record 8:58.30.

The Arizona state record remains 8:57.81 set by Xavier College Prep in 2007.

Great Oak CA, Mission Viejo CA and Santa Cruz CA all have the potential to secure victory after placing in the top 10 last year.

Lester looks for another legendary lap

Marietta GA junior Sterling Lester won the 400 meters last season in 53.94 on her way to placing third at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in June.

Lester leads the top four athletes returning from last year’s race, including Bishop O’Dowd CA senior Tierra Robinson-Jones, El Toro CA senior Maliyah Medley and Newark Memorial CA senior Alexis Surrell.

Perhaps the biggest challenges to Lester and the rest of the field come from Westlake GA senior Kennedy Simon and Provo UT junior Meghan Hunter, who have both run under 54 seconds this season.

Bullis MD sophomore Shaniya Hall and Rancho NV senior Gizelle Reid also have the potential to contend for the win.

Shamier Little of Lindblom IL, a three-time NCAA Division 1 400 hurdles champion at Texas A&M, was the last female athlete to win the 400 in back-to-back years in 2012-13.

Great Oak pursues more relay greatness

Although Great Oak CA will be a significant factor in all three distance relays, the Wolfpack will look to add to an impressive legacy in the 4x1,600 relay with a potential fourth victory in the past five years, relying heavily on Fatima Cortes and Tori Gaitan in order to do so.

Davis Senior CA won in 2016, but Great Oak is seeking back-to-back titles again after winning consecutive years in 2014-15.

Buchanan CA, Claremont CA and Saugus CA all have the potential to capture the championship, looking to extend the dominance of the host state in the event to eight consecutive years. Xavier College Prep AZ is the last girls team outside of California to win the 4x1,600 relay in 2010.

The stage is set for the next sprint star

Oaks Christian CA graduate Lauren Rain Williams, now an Oregon freshman, pulled off the sweep of the 100 and 200 meters in 2016, before injury prevented her from defending either title at last year’s meet.

Following a sweep in both races March 24 at the NIKE Chandler Rotary Invitational, North Canyon AZ sophomore Jadyn Mays is looking to continue to build momentum by winning the sprints again Saturday.

Long Beach Poly CA senior Ariyonna Augustine is looking forward to a rematch with Mays in the 100, with Bishop O’Dowd CA senior Tierra Robinson-Jones also seeking revenge in the 200.

Serra CA junior Jazmyne Frost, Tahoma WA junior Aliya Wilson, South Lakes VA sophomore Hannah Waller and Calabasas CA junior teammates Deanna Nowling and Tierra Crockrell will all be looking to secure the sprinting spotlight.

Kelby tries to double up in discus

Lees Summit West MO senior Makayla Kelby is looking to win back-to-back discus titles, following the success of San Jose Valley Christian CA graduate Elena Bruckner – now competing at Texas – in 2015-16.

In order to repeat, Kelby must prevail against a group of talented California throwers, led by Fowler junior Jocelynn Budwig and Bakersfield Liberty freshman Faith Bender.

Costa Mesa CA senior Felicia Crenshaw, James Logan CA senior Hannah Hall, Wheatland CA senior Erica Grotegeer, Los Alamitos CA senior Faimalie Sale and West Ranch CA junior Natalie Ramirez have all thrown beyond 145 feet, with Chandler AZ senior Samantha Ponds also surpassing 145 feet last season.
