NCAA awards Texas the 2019, 2020 DI Track and Field Finals

By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

The NCAA announced Thursday that Texas will host the 2019 and 2020 Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The event will return to Eugene in 2021 and 2022 to a completely new Hayward Field

The NCAA needed to come up with a replacement for Eugene in 2019 and 2020 because of stadium construction. Oregon is building a new stadium with capability of hosting the 2021 IAAF World Championships.

Texas lasted hosted the NCAA meet in 2004. Austin has been the site of the men's championships six times since 1957. The women have competed there on three occasions since 1982.

Big crowds annually come to Mike A. Myers Stadium for the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the UIL Texas State Championships.
