Christian Coleman to Face Off Against Justin Gatlin and Andre De Grasse in ShanghaiPublished by
Coleman, Gatlin and De Grasse to Race 100 Meters in ShanghaiBy Adam Kopet The Shanghai Diamond League meeting organizers announced a stellar field for the men's 100-meter dash Thursday in a press release. Leading the field is newly crowned IAAF World Indoor 60-meter champion Christian Coleman. This will be Coleman's Diamond League debut. The reigning IAAF World Outdoor 100-meter champion Justin Gatlin is also scheduled to compete. He beat Coleman at the World Championships last year. Not to be forgotten is Canada's Andre De Grasse. The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist over 100 meters and silver medalist over 200 meters missed the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships with an injury. The last time De Grasse and Coleman raced was the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships. De Grasse won and Coleman finished third. Also in the field are China's Su Bingtian and Turkey's Ramil Guliyev. Su captured the silver in the 60 meters behind Coleman at the IAAF World Indoor Championships. Guliyev is the reigning World Outdoor 200-meter champion. The Shanghai Diamond League meeting is set to take place May 12. More news |
