Only two weeks into the Brooks PR Score season and California teams are already showing their strength nationally. With more than 1,500 teams already registered to compete in this year’s program, The Golden State has more than 20 teams scoring top 25 placement between the boys and girls rankings.

Topping the girls rankings, Marina High School in Marina, CA comes in at number one, with a PR score of 61.2, just ahead Providence High School in Burbank, CA, who sits a point back with a 60.2 score. ASU Preparatory Academy Polytechnic in Mesa, AZ currently ranks third with a score of 59.0.

Atop of the boys rankings, Dublin High School in Dublin, CA and Sunset High School in Portland, OR are tied with a PR Score of 63.5, while Skyline High School in Oakland, CA, Wilsonville High School in Wilsonville, OR and De La Salle Academy in Concord, CA rank third through fifth, each with scores of 63.1 or 63.0.

Competition is fierce for the top spot in both rankings, guaranteed to heat up even more as May approaches, a time when most track and field athletes are rounding into peak form.

California dominates the top 25 in both the boys and girls rankings at the moment. Ten California girls teams rank in the top 25, all placed in the top 16, while Arizona comes in second with six teams in the top 25. Nevada, Texas and Oregon each have two teams in the top 25.

On the boys side, California has 11 teams in the top 25, with four in the top 10. Somewhat of a surprise, Oregon has the second most teams in the top 25 with six, while Washington is a close third with four teams ranked top 25. Idaho is the only other state with multiple top 25 teams with a total of two.
