Strong Performances Abound in This Week's Performance of the Week ListThis week featured several major competitions with the IAAF World U-20 Championships, the Rabat Diamond League meeting and the inaugural Athletics World Cup. Christian Coleman: The sprinter returned to action after missing more than a month with an injury, to win a loaded 100-meter field at the Rabat Diamond League meeting in 9.98 in a photo finish. Jordan Diaz: The jumper from Cuba broke the meet record in the triple jump at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, winning with a mark of 56-3.25 (17.15m). Armand "Mondo" Duplantis: The Lafayette LA graduate broke the meet record in the pole vault competing for Sweden at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, clearing a height of 19-1 (5.82m). Taylor Ewert: The high school sophomore from Beavercreek OH took more than three minutes off her American junior record in the 10,000-meter racewalk at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, finishing 10th in 45:57.81. Caterine Ibarguen: The jumper from Colombia earned a world-leading mark in the triple jump at the Rabat Diamond League meeting, earning a mark of 49-1 (14.96m). Rhonex Kipruto: The distance runner from Kenya broke the meet record in the 10,000 meters at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, running 27:21.08. George Manangoi: The middle-distance runner from Kenya followed in his older brother's footsteps by winning a global 1,500-meter title, this time at the IAAF World U-20 Championships. He ran 3:41.71 and narrowly beat Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Ashley Moloney: The multi-event athlete from Australia broke the meet record in the decathlon at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, scoring 8,190 points. Adrian Piperi: The Texas freshman broke the American junior record in the shot put (6 kilogram) with his 72-4.50 (22.06m) second-place mark at the IAAF World U-20 Championships. Team USATF: The American squad won the inaugural Athletics World Cup held over two days in London, securing 11 victories and prevailing in the eight-team competition by 57 points over second-place Poland, scoring 219 points. Diribe Welteji: The middle-distance runner from Ethiopia broke the meet record in the women's 800 meters at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, running 1:59.74. Briana Williams: The high school sophomore from Northeast (Oakland Park) FL won the 100 and 200 meters for Jamaica at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, running a meet-record 22.50 in the 200 and beating the meet record holder, USC freshman Twanisha Terry, in the 100.
